Pearl Jam has posted a countdown clock on Pearljam.com for some sort of mysterious and presumably exciting announcement.
A commenter on AlternativeNation.net back on May 31st leaked that Pearl Jam would be announcing tour dates and a release date for their 10th studio album on July 8th. Their post was met with obvious skepticism, but the commenter using the handle “PJ” also predicted that:
When there is a countdown started on their facebook page a week before, you’ll know I’m not full of shit.
Here’s what else this apparently in the know source told us:
- July 8th is when we will get all of our dates.
- Album to come prior to the October tour.
- October 1st album release.
- Look for a song from Eddie Vedder’s “Uke Songs” record to be on it.
It will be a busy second half of 2013 for Pearl Jam. They will play two concerts in July, one in London, Ontario and one at Chicago’s Wrigley Field, and will soon announce a Fall U.S. Tour and a release date for their 10th studio album.
The first single off the new album is “Mind Your Manners,” and will hit radio by the time Pearl Jam takes the stage at Wrigley Field. According to Australian rock radio TripleM 105.1, the new song is three minutes long and is “short, sharp, hard, and loud”!
in a radio interview with Bob Rivers in Seattle, Stone Gossard said the new Pearl Jam album will come out “this year for sure.” He described the current state of the process as “crossing the finish line,” and just “a few weeks away from being finished”.
Also said he thinks Brad will start working on a new record this year as well.

In an interview with Guerrilla Candy, Stone Gossard gave an update on the status of the next pearl Jam album:
“It’s almost done and as far as what it sounds like, it sounds like Pearl Jam. You’re going to hear some rock songs and you’re going to hear some quiet songs and you’ll hear some songs in between. That’s all I can really say about it because we aren’t talking about it yet so it doesn’t make much sense for me to say anything.”
Stone Gossard was also asked about Seattle dates on their soon-to-be-announced U.S. Tour and said “I do believe there’s going to be some coming. I don’t know when, I don’t know the dates or locations.”

“New Orleans is one of the most musically and culturally rich cities in the world. We’ve played some of our most memorable shows there and can’t wait to return this November. I am personally looking forward to seeing my friends Steve and Michel Gleason. I’m also stoked to see my friend Steve Rehage, eat some gumbo and maybe go get a tattoo at Electric Ladyland or shop for records at Peaches!” – Mike McCready
Along with Pearl Jam and Nine Inch Nails, Paramore and The Gaslight Anthem are among the acts so far announced on the bill. Pearl Jam so far has three scheduled upcoming concerts: today’s announced New Orleans date, as well as shows in London Canada, and Wrigley Field in Chicago in July. Pearl Jam is currently in the latter phases of recording and mixing their tenth studio album, expected to be released later this year or in early 2014.
According to an Interview with Mike McCready on Pearl Jam Radio, recorded backstage in Argentina during their south america tour, Pearl Jam has nearly wrapped up the recording phase of their new album, and are almost ready to mix.
“We hope that we will have something out by the end of the year. We are in the middle of the process of recording right now, we will be mixing pretty soon. We just jumped from doing a bunch of music to coming down here, recording some ideas. It’s gonna be cool I am pretty excited about it. I don’t know how to explain it yet, we aren’t done mixing it. There’s some interesting, different stuff than we’ve done. Some harder stuff, and some more trippy Pink Floyd-y stuff, to punk rock, to melodies, all sorts of stuff that we haven’t really… we’ve touched on before but maybe a little bit more realized now. I’m excited – we haven’t had a record out for 3 years… we hope to have something out by the end of the year.”
A Pearl Jam representative has told SPIN Magazine that reports stating that Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger was recording strings for the new Pearl Jam album are false.
Einzinger had tweeted, “In the studio with my girl and Eddie Vedder, recording strings for Pearl Jam’s new album :)”
However, cometotheporch.net reports that Mike’s girlfriend in the photo is Ann Marie Calhoun, a self proclaimed “virtuoso violinist who has toured with Ringo Starr, Ben Harper, Jethro Tull, and Steve Vai.”
According to Ann Marie Calhoun’s ‘s official website has performed with Mick Jagger, Ringo Starr, The Fray, Dave Stewart, Incubus, Stevie Nicks, and was a featured performer at the 2012 Academy Awards.
Musician Mike Einzinger (Incubus) tweeted a photo of himself and Eddie Vedder in the studio, “recording strings for Pearl Jam’s new album:
